As the construction industry continues to adopt more environmentally responsible practices, the American Cement Association (ACA) has launched a new awards program to recognize projects that are helping move the industry forward through the use of blended cement.

The program reflects a significant shift in how infrastructure and commercial projects are being built across the United States. Over the past few years, blended cement has rapidly gained popularity, evolving from a niche material into the most widely used cement product in the country. In 2025 alone, approximately 65 million metric tons of blended cement were consumed nationwide—nearly double the amount of traditional portland cement.

The growing demand is driven by blended cement’s ability to deliver the strength and durability required for modern construction while helping reduce the carbon footprint of concrete production. As sustainability becomes an increasingly important priority for owners, contractors, and public agencies, these materials are playing a larger role in projects of every size.

To showcase these advancements, the ACA’s new awards program will honor projects completed between 2024 and 2026 that demonstrate excellence in quality, innovation, sustainability, and concrete performance. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of industry experts across several blended cement categories, with winners recognized for helping advance modern construction practices.
