The goal is to give employers a more complete view of a candidate’s qualifications while making it easier for workers to demonstrate the skills they’ve developed through multiple career pathways.
State leaders say the initiative is intended to support skills-based hiring by helping employers identify qualified candidates based on proven abilities rather than relying solely on traditional educational requirements. The platform is also expected to improve access to employment opportunities for workers whose experience may not be reflected by a four-year degree alone.
The pilot phase will begin with selected colleges and employer partners before expanding more broadly across California. Feedback gathered during the initial rollout will help shape future enhancements as the state works toward a larger implementation.
