Full-Time | Mining & Construction Equipment
We are seeking an experienced Garage Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair Yellow CAT heavy equipment, stationary diesel engines, and high-pressure air compressors in a mining and industrial environment. This is a hands-on role for skilled mechanics who thrive on troubleshooting, rebuilding, and keeping critical equipment running safely and efficiently.
What You’ll Do
As a Garage Mechanic, you will support daily equipment operations through maintenance, diagnostics, and repair work, including:
Equipment Maintenance & Inspections
- Perform scheduled service including lubrication, fluid/filter changes, and system inspections
- Conduct periodic equipment checks and make adjustments to maintain proper operating condition
Diagnostics & Troubleshooting
- Identify engine, hydraulic, drivetrain, and electrical issues using meters, diagnostic software, and OEM tools
- Work directly from shop manuals and repair documentation
Repairs, Overhauls & Rebuilds
- Remove, repair, rebuild, or replace major components including:

- Engines, transmissions, pumps, cylinders, injectors, brakes, and more
- Perform equipment overhauls as required
Additional Responsibilities
- Complete welding, burning, and miscellaneous soldering in connection with maintenance
- Operate cranes, hoists, and mobile equipment safely during repairs
- Requisition parts and materials from the storeroom
- Maintain repair records and report discrepancies
- Perform tire maintenance and repairs as needed
- Keep the shop and work area clean, safe, and organized
- Support other job-related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience as a heavy mobile equipment mechanic
- Advanced knowledge of diesel engines and off-road industrial equipment
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform hands-on repairs involving heavy components
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety and accuracy
- Clear communication skills for repair updates and timelines
- Valid driver’s license for equipment operation and testing
Work Environment
- Industrial shop and field-based equipment support
- Exposure to noise, grease, heavy machinery, and outdoor conditions
- Strict adherence to PPE and lockout/tagout safety procedures required
